A biosafety cabinet is a widely used safety equipment in fields such as microbiology, biomedicine, gene recombination, animal experimentation, biological products, scientific research, teaching, clinical testing, and production. On the contrary, it is the most basic safety protection equipment among the three-level protective barriers in laboratory biosafety.

The biosafety cabinet is the second type of negative pressure purification workbench. Proper operation of the biosafety cabinet can fully protect workers, test samples, and prevent the occurrence of cross contamination.

But the clean benchonly a clean benchthat protects the operating object but does not protect the staff and laboratory environment.

When it comes to microbiology and biomedical research, teaching, clinical testing, and production, biosafety cabinets should be selected and used, so ultra clean bench should never be selected and used.

1. The WHO Laboratory Biosafety Handbook proposes that biosafety cabinets can effectively reduce laboratory infections such as cross contamination of cultures caused by exposure to aerosols.

5. Secondary biosafety cabinets can protect workers and the environment, but cannot protect samples.

6. The principle of this type of airflow is basically the same as that of a laboratory fume hood, except that a HEPA filter is installed at the exhaust port to filter the external exhaust flow and prevent contamination caused by microbial aerosol diffusion.
